This opened up about 14,582 jobs in central government departments for Group B and Group C positions. What is SSC CGL 2025?
The SSC holds the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam every year to find people to fill positions such as Assistant Section Officer, Inspector, Sub Inspector, Junior Statistical Officer, Auditor, Accountant, and more. There are two new positions this year: Section Head and Office Superintendent. This adds to the many options available to graduates.
Key Highlights of the Notification
- Date of Release: June 9, 2025
- Vacancies: There are 14,582 open positions (tentative), and the final details for each post and category will be released on July 31, 2025.
- Application Period: The application period is from June 9 to July 4, 2025, and the correction period is from July 9 to July 11, 2025.
- Fee to apply: ₹100 (women, SC/ST, PwBD, and ex-servicemen don’t have to pay). You can pay online with UPI, Net Banking, or a credit or debit card, or you can pay in person with an SBI challan.
- Dates for the test:
- Tier 1: August 13 to August 30, 2025 (Computer-Based Test).
- Tier 2: will happen in December 2025.
- Admit Card: Expected to be available on SSC’s regional websites 3 to 7 days before the Tier 1 exam.
- Exam City Slip: Probably available on or around August 8, 2025.
- Candidates can relax: the SSC Chairman has said that the exam will not be pushed back, even if it conflicts with the UPSC.
Good news for candidates: the SSC Chairman has confirmed that the exam will not be postponed, even with a clash with the UPSC IAS Main 2025 exam starting August 22, 2025. So, gear up for the August dates!
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for SSC CGL 2025, you need to meet the following criteria:
- Education Qualification: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required for this job. Some posts have extra requirements.
- Junior Statistical Officer (JSO): 60% in Class 12 Mathematics or a degree in Statistics.
- Statistical Investigator Grade-II: you need a degree in economics, statistics, or math.
- Research Assistant (NHRC): Degree with one year of research experience.
- Age Limit: As of August 1, 2025, you must be between 18 and 32 years old, depending on the job. Reserved groups (SC/ST, OBC, PwBD, ex-servicemen) can get relaxations.
- Nationality: Citizens of India, people from Nepal or Bhutan, or people of Indian descent who want to live in India permanently.
How to Apply?
Applying for the SSC CGL 2025 is pretty simple:
- Start by visiting ssc.gov.in and complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) using your Aadhaar or another form of ID.
- Once you’re logged in, fill out the application form and upload a recent photo along with your signature.
- Make sure to pay the fee (if needed) by July 5, 2025, using either online or offline methods.
- After that, submit your form and keep a printout for your records.
This year, there’s something new: SSC has rolled out Aadhaar-based authentication at three key points—registration, application submission, and when you enter the exam center. They’ll be using biometrics like fingerprints or facial recognition to boost security. Plus, you can now apply through the upgraded mySSC app!
Exam Pattern
The SSC CGL 2025 exam is conducted in two tiers:
- Tier 1 (Preliminary): A Computer-Based Test with four sections:
- General Intelligence & Reasoning
- General Awareness
- Quantitative Aptitude
- English Comprehension
- Each section has 25 questions, with a 0.5-mark penalty for wrong answers.
- Tier 2: Two papers:
- Paper I: Mandatory for all candidates.
- Paper II: For JSO and Statistical Investigator Grade-II posts.
- Both are computer-based with negative marking.
